Folding Sheets 101

This is how I like to fold the bed sheets.  Let's start with the dreaded fitted sheet.  It's quite simple.  Here's what you do:

Lay the fitted sheet down like this:

Grab corner 1 and turn it inside out like this:

Insert this into corner 3.

Now turn corner 2 inside out and insert it into corner 4.
This is what you'll end up with:

Do the same again with these corners:
That is, turn one corner inside out and insert it into the other like this:

Fold the edges in so that you end up with this:

Now, fold it length-wise:

Next, fold in the bulky end like so:

And now, fold the other end in as well:

Last step for the fitted sheet is to fold this down the middle, what you'll end up with is this:

Now, tell me would you have guessed this was a fitted sheet had you seen it all folded up like this?

Here comes the real easy part.  You'll want to fold the flat sheet length-wise so that you end up with something that looks like this:

Fold the pillow cases:

Place the fitted sheet and the pillow cases on top of and in the middle of the flat sheet:

Fold over one end of the flat sheet:

Fold over the other end of the flat sheet:

Flip it over and you're done!

I like folding the sheets this way because it's compact and it keeps the set together. You'll no longer need to rummage through your linen cabinet looking for the matching sheets.  I hope this was helpful and I hope I didn't complicate this simple folding technique.

Oh and one more thing, you may have noticed my tablet on the bed in some of these pictures.  That's because I like to listen to my favorite songs while folding.  Music is the best way to make anything less tedious and more fun!

  1. Thanks for the tip. Love a nice linen closet.
Music makes the job of folding much more fun.

  2. If the good fairy came to my house to work for free, that's how I'd have my sheets folded. But since she doesn't know my address, they get folded any quick way I can find. Patience is not one of my virtues. As long as I can stuff them into the linen closet, I count 'em good.

    1. Lol! You make me laugh Sandy...but I reassure you that this is not that hard to do. But, at the end of the day, you gotta do what feels right to you. :)

  3. This sis such a great idea for a post. The other day when folding my fitted sheets I wondered if people knew how to do it. Great post!! Thank you <3

I'd love to hear what you think...
